So, what is PathMotion?
Monday, 4 May 2009
We regularly get to think about our career plans. While there are many opportunities out there, it’s mostly guesswork to find an occupation that makes us happy, or even just to know what’s the “right” move. PathMotion is here to help people find better answers: from “what should I do with my life?” to “getting the job—done!”
The right tools for the job
We focus on giving people better access to hard-to-find practical career insights. No more wading through job listings by the hundreds, searching only by keywords. Using the latest psychological research on happiness, PathMotion allows you to explore types of jobs in key sectors which correspond to your career strengths and aspirations. We then point you to jobs in industries that you may not have considered before. For example, if your strengths are in problem solving and people management, we will show you specific jobs in finance, business, and politics where those qualities are important. Our methodology has been developed together with professionals currently working in these jobs. These are experts who know the relevant differences between working in an investment bank and in a micro-finance consultancy.
Learn from the experience of others: “How did they get there?”
PathMotion also matches you to real people who are doing the jobs you’d like to be doing. We will show you their career paths to show you the steps they took to get from where you are today to where you’d like to be. We will also give you glimpse into your future: for example, we will show you the most common career moves after being a corporate lawyer.
Coming soon
Pathmotion will be launching in closed beta by the end of the year. Sign up for our email updates to be invited to our beta test. We hope you’ll find our tools useful when choosing your first job or internship, thinking about your next career move or about a meaningful side project, or simply exploring what options are open to you.
